HAPPY 2018
Wishing you the best for this new year !!
Wishing you the best for this new year !!
This month I had the chance to visit the new Yves Saint Laurent museum in Marrekech, designed by the brilliant Studio KO.
The outside of the building is intended to evoke the “weft and warp of fabric” while the interior is designed to evoke the lining of a couture jacket, “velvety, smooth and radiant.”
> My first interview published on the Chinese social media : WeChat
Some extracts :
What type of person are you in the creative field? Where do you get creative inspirations?
My personal approach to graphic creation could be defined by: strong impact, colorful, with meaning and a particular sensibility for typography. My inspirations are quite various, through books, magazines, travel and internet. Many things inspire me in the graphic design from England, Denmark, USA and Australia.
What is the biggest difficulty you encountered when working?
There is more pleasure than difficulty luckily! One difficulty would be to find the right way to explain the context, the references, the approach and the consistency of the whole of a project to a client who does not know at all this area. This is a difficult but extremely important part because a good project unexplained will have no chance to be approved…
What is your expectation of your career?
I wish to continue to evolve in art direction & graphic design, I would love to get the opportunity to work on food packaging, visual identities for restaurants or hotels and also to create the layout of artist books.
Thank you Emily from Shanghai✌️
New interview about my career and collaborations with some great companies. In BONE magazine from Istanbul, Turkey.
Here an extract :
In your opinion, what does it take to be an art director?
In my opinion, you need a good mix between knowledge of drawing ( not only for the skills but also to understand and know how to look at things ), a very strong culture of visual communication ( history of art, graphic design from the past and also what’s up today ), curiosity, audacity & passion…!
What do you think is the worse thing that could happen to a graphic designer?
Be blind ?
Can you tell us your favorite bars/restaurants in Paris?
Effortless French – Parisian > I LOVE FOOD ! A small selection of bars would be : Pas de Loup / Café de la poste / Triplettes / Les deux amis / Mary Celeste / Les Niçois … And some restaurants : Le Tannat / La Cicciolina / SaAm / The Beast / Le 52 / Le Richer … and many others !
Thank you Beryl 😉
Good to see this new publication of my work in a nice book edited by Gestalten
HYES project, with some nice words by Caroline Nedelec :
The choice of paper for a printed medium forms an integral part of the design work.
This has to make sense between the object in relation to its content.
I am particularly interested in the amplitude of the range of papers proposed by GF SMITH
To print the SANDRO guidebook we decided to work on a cover with the DAPPLE embossing which echoes the texture of the fabrics used
and translates the premium aspect of the brand.
Also for the opening and closing of the book we chose a Transclear Crystal paper that refers to the marble used in the shops.
New work for AHA , a little book to give a quick overview of their architecture projects.
I worked with 3 different sizes of sheets, A > Studio / H > Oliver Herbez (founder) / A > Projects
This new medium comes complete all the project elements.
Happy to discover this new great video of Ledadashop, a new boutique coming soon in Lyon, France.
It was a big pleasure to create this global identity, packaging, bags… !
In the video you can discover the artisanal printing process of the business cards.
Always fascinating & magical 😉
